Planet Tuna is a project by the Spanish Institute of Oceanographic. Its aim is to spread the knowledge about tuna among the population, as well as raise awareness about the importance of tuna’s connections with the oceanic ecosystems. Life on Earth starts and depends on the oceans, that’s why our oceans need all our love and protections. Planet Tuna intends to promote this by educating people on the science of the tuna communities.

Behind Planet Tuna there’s a team of oceanographers, illustrators and journalists based in Mallorca. Many travellers visit our beautiful Balearic islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera), but few of them know the enormous ecological importance of out seas.

Did you know that our waters are one of the very few places in the world chosen by the giant bluefin tuna to reproduce? The discoveries of tuna researchers around the world will enrich the investigations done in our center.
